Polychrome Scenic Cup & Saucer

This is probably the nicest cup I have seen made by Vienna in quite some time. It dates to around 1784 though the date codes are hard to read. Both the cup and the saucer are handpainted with a superb polychrome scene as well as a fancy gold and green trim to the rims with puce flowers and bows. Nice handle shape to the cup. Both pieces are marked with the underglaze blue shield mark, an impressed 3 underneath the cup and a double digit date code of which the last digit is clearly visible on the cup - a 4 and the first digit on the saucer - an 8. There is also a gilder's mark on the saucer 41. The set is in perfect condition with wear to the gold trim on the top edge of the cup and saucer. A tiny bit of wear to the people in the scene of the saucer. A black firing spot on the saucer and one tiny flake in the green of the scene on the cup. All in all as perfect as they come! The cup is just under 2.5 inches tall (not including the handle) and 2.375 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.375 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
