Volkstedt Polychrome Scenic Teapot

This is a fantastic tea pot made by Volkstedt in the 18th century. This piece is nicely handpainted with two landscape scenes - one on the front and one on the back. The scenes include buildings, trees, rivers or lakes and lots of greenery. Gold trim around the scenes as well as to the edges, spout, handle and on the lid. The finial of the lid and hhandle fo the pot has the typical shape used by Thuringia makers with a fake screw on either side where it attaches to the main body which I really like. The piece is in great condition with some wear mainly to the gilding. There is a glazed over flaw to the past near where the spout attaches to the main body from when it was made. The piece is marked underneath with the black crossed hayforks as shown. The pot and lid are 3.75 inches tall, 6.875 inches from handle to spout and 4 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or photos.

Price is $699
