Wallendorf Strawflower Cup & Saucer

This is a porcelain cup and saucer made by Wallendorf of Germany in the late 18th century. The set is handpainted with the famous strawflower design or Strohblumen motif that many people somehow mistake for blue onion :) This was a popular design as well back then since it was all under glaze and did not wear like overglaze pieces. It also has the ribbed design to the paste which is very common in the Thuringia area makers. They are both marked underneath with a W in underglaze blue but the one on the cup looks a bit off. The set is in good condition with some wear to the clear glaze of the saucer and a hairline to the cup. The cup seems a bit small for the saucer but that might just be my imagination. The cup is 1.625 inches tall and 2.75 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or photos.

Price is $99
