Ming Reticulated Basket

This is a really superb and rare reticulated basket made by Herend around in the late 19th century. This is when they made their best stuff and it is very hard to find especially larger pieces like this basket. It is one of the Herend Chinoiserie designs (copying Chinese and Japanese motives) called the Ming pattern which I think is one of their best. The basket is superbly painted with a lady sitting on a bench with some nice vases by her side, a table behind her, four rabbits running around in front of her as well as two children playing. The rim of the basket has a loop design to it and there is a superb gold trim with red highlights in between. The neatest thing is that the piece isn't plain white but the entire piece has a light blue ground color to it! The polychrome colors of the scenes are thick enamels which is raised off the porcelain itself. Just amazing. Even underneath the basket there are blue flowers painted as shown. The piece is marked with their blue shield mark as well as impressed HEREND and an impressed number 1. The basket is in perfect condition with a tiny spot of wear to the gold here and there on the rim edge. It is 3 inches tall and 9.25 inches in diameter.
