Early Herend Leaf Dish

This is a leaf shaped dish made by Herend in the 19th century. It has a really nice shape to it with a basketweave rim design to the paste, gilding to the edge and is handpainted with lots of fruit , nuts , berries and bugs. Great branch handle ending in three flowers. They painting is of superb quality not like the newer stuff! There are even some bugs painted on the underside rim. The piece is in great condition with some expected damage to the flowers by the branch handle and a spot of wear to the central bug. It is marked with the blue shield mark underneath, a blue letter S and impressed Herend. The ground spot by the mark looks to have been a structural support to keep the center from sagging which was removed after the firing. The dish is 1.5 inches tall (plus the handle), 9 inches wide and 7.75 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
