Zsolnay or Herend Cup & Saucer

This is a really interesting cup and saucer. Definitely made in the later 19th century or maybe a touch earlier. I first thought definitely by Herend because that handle style I ahve only ever seen done by them and the style all around fits but then I found two very rare examples made by Zsolnay and I think that fits better here. I could not find the mark on the cup anywhere so either still might be true. Either way the set is superb - it is hand painted with an interesting design includingcloud like panels of blue ground with a gold design over that as well as round pink ground panels with darker shaped surrounded by gilding on that. The space between has an light brown ground color with gold and darker brown design on top of that and even white raised enamel designs one often sees on early Herend pieces. The cup has a fancy trim similar to the brown ground design to the top inside rim. The handle is in the shape of a Chinaman / Mandarin gentleman. The foot of the cup is reticulated as shown. It's an awesome set but leaves me with so many questions! Could not find this pattern anywhere either. The porcelain is off white in color which fits Zsolnay better than Herend. Not quite as thin as early herend pieces either. The saucer is unmarked while the cup has a pinkcrown with a donut shape underneath that has Imperial written in script inside as shown. The set is in great condition with some minor crazing to the glaze along the handle - nowhere else. The cup is a bit over 2.25 inches tall and 2.375 inches in diameter. The saucer is 0.75 inches tall and 4.375 inches in diameter. A really interesting cup & saucer! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
